| Denver Gaels Season “Kicks-Off”
As the 2008 season of the Denver Gaels GAA club readily approaches, the Gaels are starting off the social season with a bigger bang than ever before. Scruffy Murphy’s and the Denver Gaels will host a Super Bowl party Sunday, February 3 at 2:00 p.m. The 2007 expansion of Scruffy’s is sure to accommodate a large, boisterous and fun-loving crowd for the largest (American) sporting event of the year.
The Gaels, whose teams include hurling, camogie, and Gaelic football, will demonstrate gregarious Irish support for its American football counterpart in what promises to be a lively romp. The 4:18 p.m. kick-off of the big game signifies the official Gaels social season commencement for 2008. The Gaels are still flying high from the 2007 championship at the North American County Board finals in Chicago last August. Hurling and two youth football teams all brought home the gold for Denver. As the new season approaches, the Gaels encourage anyone interested in trying unique new (though historically very old) sports to come out to the upcoming events.
With heavy recruitment a priority for the 2008 season, the Gaels are preparing for its largest two events of the year to follow shortly after the Super Bowl party. Saturday, March 1, sparks the largest social of the year – the Gaels Annual Pub Crawl, (two busses going from bar to bar to bar to bar to bar to bar -- you get the idea) so buy your tickets soon! They will be available at the Super Bowl party and online at www.denvergaels.com for a cost of $30 each for safe (and lively) transit, drinks and entertainment, of course.
A few weekends later, Denver’s annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade, of which the Gaels are a prominent fixture, engulfs LoDo and the surrounding areas. For more information inquire at the Super Bowl party, Pub Crawl or visit www.denvergaels.com. Tyler McNally
